Programs

Peer recovery coaching, and the practical help around it.

Root to Rise is not a clinic and it is not a slogan. It is a set of practical rooms — some of them actual rooms, some of them a walk, some of them a kitchen — where recovery can take up space in Mashpee and Falmouth.

Peer recovery coaching

A coach walks beside you — not ahead of you, and never above you.

Our recovery coaches understand recovery from the inside. They help you name what recovery means for you, set small goals you can actually keep, clear practical barriers like transportation, paperwork, or a missed appointment, and stay close when the week gets loud. Coaching is free and works alongside treatment, mutual-help meetings, faith, or whatever pathway is yours. Sessions happen in town, over coffee, on a walk, or at the monthly Recovery Breakfast.

Resilient Recovery practice series

Seven pillars, one day at a time.

Resilient Recovery is our weekly practice series, built on The 7 Pillars of Resilience: vision, composure, reasoning, tenacity, collaboration, stewardship, and a weekly review that pulls it together. Each day asks one plain question and offers one small practice. It is free, you can start on any day, and a coach can work through it with you.

Benefits & community navigation

The Cape has more help than most people know how to find.

Treatment, meetings, housing, food, health care, legal aid, tribal services, and public benefits like SNAP, MassHealth, and Lifeline phone service — the map is real, and it is confusing when you are in the middle of it. Our free, private benefits navigator helps you see what you may qualify for, and a coach can sit down with you to make a plan: who to call, what to bring, and how to get there from Mashpee or Falmouth.

Recovery café & monthly Recovery Breakfast

A hot plate, a quiet table, and a coach in the room.

Once a month, the Recovery Breakfast brings people in recovery, the people trying, and the people who love them to one table, with free peer recovery coaching on hand. The first one is Thursday, October 29, 2026 — time and location coming soon. Our recovery café work grows out of our partnership with Cape Island Café at 316 Gifford Street in Falmouth, a welcoming place to land. The café is open for lunch Monday through Friday, 11am to 3pm.

Coach training

Turn lived experience into a skill you can offer someone else.

Root to Rise hosts classes and ongoing training for recovery coaches. The work is practical: listening, ethics, resource navigation, and how to show up without taking over. If you are ready to support others on the Cape, we will help you get prepared — and keep learning after the first course ends.

Meals

Nobody should have to choose between getting well and getting fed.

We cook, pack, and deliver meals for people in recovery and the households standing with them. Some plates land at the breakfast table. Others go out to someone who cannot make it in. If you can spare an evening in a kitchen, or a trunk full of groceries, you are already part of this.

Work & opportunity

A job is more than a paycheck. It is a reason to get up.

We help people in recovery find work that respects their story: resumes, interviews, references, and introductions to Cape employers willing to hire. Mentors sit with you until the application is sent. When we can, we also connect folks to starter kits — boots, a phone, a ride to the first shift.
